BY CAR

Lake Garda is easily reachable by car thanks to rapid connections to the main highways of Northern Italy. For people arriving from abroad, the proximity to the Swiss border and European highways makes a car an excellent choice for exploring the area.

  • A4 Milan-Venice highway: Desenzano del Garda or Sirmione exits
  • A22 Modena-Brenner highway: Affi exit
  • A35 BreBeMi highway: once you arrive in Brescia, you can reach Lake Garda via the SS45bis or the SS11 Roads

BY BUS

The Brescia side of Lake Garda is well connected by bus, whether you are arriving from within Italy or foreign countries.

The bus service along the Gardesana Occidentale Road (SS45bis) is managed by the company Arriva, whereas  Flixbus offers rides connecting the main tourist resorts such as Desenzano del Garda and Sirmione to the most important Italian and international destinations.

BY TRAIN

The railway network is a convenient and fast solution to reach the Brescia side of Lake Garda. Railway lines connect Lake Garda with many Italian cities, including Milan, Verona and Venice, but also with international destinations such as Zurich and Munich.

The main stations are located in Desenzano del Garda and Brescia, and are served both by regional and high-speed trains. From here, you can continue to the lakeside resorts by bus or taxi.

How to move

Once you arrive, it’s time to experience the lake. Any ideas? Travel by bus to relax with the enchanting landscape of the Gardesana Road. Grab your bike with you and embark on a motorboat to discover the hinterland by pedaling. Exit the airport, rent a car and reach the main tourist resorts and the mountains of Val Vestino.

BY BUS

The bus is an excellent option for getting around Lake Garda and reaching the various locations on its Brescia side. The main connections are managed by public transportation companies Arriva and APAM.

Buses are frequent and cover even the smallest towns, making it easy to explore the entire area. In Sirmione the Chiamabus service is also active, to move easily between the various hamlets of the town.

BY FERRY AND BOAT

Another comfortable and panoramic way to get around Lake Garda is to use the ferries and boats of the company Navigazione Laghi Navigarda, which offers connections between the numerous towns on the Brescia side of the lake such as Desenzano, Sirmione, Limone and Salò.

Thanks to these means of transportation, you can cross the lake while enjoying a spectacular view of the mountains and the villages that overlook its waters. You can also bring your own bicycle on board.
