Paul VI collection of Contemporary Art
This collection was created thanks to several donations by the Brescian Pope, and is located in Concesio by his birth place. It gathers and displays seven thousand 20th century paintings, drawings, prints, medals and sculptures which belonged to Giovanni Battista Montini (1897-1978), who became Pope Paul VI.
Famous authors present in the collection are Matisse, Chagall, Picasso, Dalí, Magritte, Rouault, Severini, Morandi, Fontana, Manzù, Hartung, and Guitton. This testifies to the rich cultural exchange between the artists and the Pope and his secretary Pasquale Macchi.
Besides the main collection, there are specific sections dedicated to graphic design and medals, and a large learning center.
