One of the most precious treasures preserved inside the walls of Brescia Castle is the Luigi Marzoli Arms Museum. It is home to one of the most important European collections of ancient weapons and armour and offers a fascinating journey back in time. The whole collection is the generous bequest of Brescian businessman Luigi Marzoli, who died in 1965.
A unique European collection
Helmets, body armour, swords, halberds, guisarmes, in addition to 15th century armour, firearms, and beautiful and richly decorated parade shields . There is even a whole room dedicated to luxury arms.
The Brescia Arms Museum is an exciting leap back in time, from the cavalry to the most modern defence devices. The museum is organised on two levels for a total of 10 exhibition rooms. Visitors can admire the ingenuity of our ancestors, follow the evolution of tactics and strategies, and appreciate the aesthetical details of these priceless items.
It’s worth mentioning that the exhibitions include a lot of arms were built in the province of Brescia, which has a longstanding tradition in this manufacturing sector. The museum is housed in Visconti tower (Mastio), which also displays fine medieval frescoes in the Sala del Mastio and has views if the remains of the old Roman temple from the ground floor.
Outside the museum, visitors can relax in the castle’s beautiful park, the ideal destination for a family stroll which offers wonderful panoramic views of the city.

From the Santa Giulia Museum with the Archaeological Park and the new home to the Winged Victory in the Capitolium to the Tosio Martinengo Art Gallery and the “Luigi Marzoli” Arms Museum in the Castle: thanks to three digital itineraries accessible via smartphones and tablets, Geronimo Stilton will cross the threshold of a museum for the first time.
The aim of this innovative educational project (of which Fondazione Brescia Musei is proudly the world leader) is to stimulate children’s curiosity through the use of technological tools that are familiar to them.
