Divine Infant Museum

A unique collection of hundreds of sacred works of art featuring the infant Jesus.

The Museo Il Divino Infante (Museum of the Divine Infant) in Gardone Riviera is an incredible collection created by German collector Hiky Mayr, who personally takes care of the restoration and preservation of this incredibly important historic and cultural heritage.

Ancient statues, works of art, vintage artefacts made of carved wood and polychrome, wax, terracotta, and papier-mâché: this precious collection documents the iconographic representation of the infant Jesus in sculpture, whatever the material.

From the infant naked and wrapped in swaddling cloths to the young king in fine clothes, not forgetting the most traditional representation of Jesus: over four centuries of art and antiquity combine in an incredibly evocative collection which conveys clearly the passion of the collector.

In addition to the works devoted to the Divine Infant, there are also extremely rare sculptures of the child Mary, all perfectly restored.

Another special section is devoted to ancient nativity scenes, in particular the magnificent 19th-century statues of the Presepe Napoletano (Neapolitan Nativity) recovered by the collector in over 40 years of combing antique markets for hidden treasures. These particularly rare nativity scenes have been very carefully restored to become pieces of exceptional artistic value.

The Museo del Diviono Infante is in Gardone Riviera, on the western coast of Lake Garda, about 500 m from the Vittoriale degli Italiani.

The museum also hosts temporary and secondary exhibitions.
