The Fondazione Paolo e Carolina Zani welcomes visitors on a journey between the Casa Museo (house museum) and its garden in the Franciacorta area, between the city of Brescia and the southern end of Lake Iseo.
Casa Museo Zani: an exclusive journey through art, history and beauty
Inside the house museum, visitors are taken on guided tours to discover sculptures, paintings, furnishings and applied art objects.
Prominent among the over 1,200 works in the collection are paintings by Canaletto, Tiepolo, Guardi, Longhi, and Boucher, alongside precious Baroque and Rococo furnishings, mainly French and Venetian, and extraordinary objects of applied art from the 17th and 18th centuries.
Absolute masterpieces include: the couple of commodes from 1789 by Giuseppe Maggiolini with inlays by Andrea Appiani and the octagonal table made of semi-precious stones in the late 17th and early 18th centuries in the Galleria dei Lavori in Florence.
A garden of endless surprises
The house museum garden is a natural complement to the collection consisting of over 1,200 works of Baroque art, mainly French, Roman and Venetian. The path within the garden winds among sculptures, fountains, and architectural elements in dialogue with nature.
A corner of the world in which distant cultures are glimpsed, such as those represented by Egyptian papyruses, cedars of Lebanon, Sophora of Japan, Chinese Juniper, the careful selection of Agave trees, and a scenic series of macro Bonsai trees.
Among rare tree species, artfully pruned branches and ancient sculptures, the paths wind their way to a striking nymphaeum with cherubs and water features. Here, a unique collection of water lilies and aquatic plants is mirrored in its lightness, enlivened by colorful Japanese carps (Koi).
An itinerary that celebrates the house as a metaphor for a space of the soul in which treasures are protected, knowledge is guarded, beauty is cultivated and, above all, art is inhabited.
