The Adamello trail number 1 is an extremely interesting hiking route, both for the majesty of the environment, and for the variety of vegetation that characterizes the entire itinerary in every season.
The trail is suitable for experienced hikers, has exposed equipped and unequipped sections, and under particular conditions (for example snow at the beginning of the season, bad weather) can become a mountaineering trail (the use of the via ferrata kit is recommended) that requires a good level of training.
The length of the stages ranges from about four to six hours, and the route winds mainly between 2000 and 3000 meters above sea level for about 80 km. The itinerary can be followed from the Tassara Refuge towards the North or from Edolo towards the South.
There are several variants and, if necessary, it is always possible to descend to the valley in a short time from one of the refuges to interrupt the route.
The Adamello trek runs through the entire territory of the Adamello Park, from South to North, crossing some of the most beautiful and wild areas of the Alps, also from a botanical point of view, due to the presence of many endemic species and an uncommon wealth of vegetation.
The presence of marmots, several ungulates and, although rare and shy, the eagle, make this journey certainly captivating.
The entire trek route has been arranged with the installation of ropes and metal chains and the facilitation of some passages by the Adamello Park with the operational support of the Alpine Guides of Valle Camonica.
An explanatory booklet of the route is available at the Adamello Park, while on the website www.rifugi.lombardia.it there is further detailed information.
