The Mine of St. Aloysius in Collio has been recently opened to the public after years of abandonment and a long adaptation work. One of the most valuable siderite deposits in Valle Trompia, this place from another time guards the ancient art of mining and just waits for you to discover it.

Adventure Park and Mine Trekking at the Mine of St. Aloysius

Two trails are planned at the Mine of St. Aloysius. Let’s start with the Adventure Park, an exciting acrobatic circuit among suspended ropes, Tibetan bridges, ladders, flight with pulley suspended in the void. All in the utmost safety and under the watchful eye of attentive staff.

After this crackling start, the key moment arrives: the Mine Trekking. Together with experienced guides you can go down into the mine for about 2.5 km, discovering all the tricks of this ancient trade. Among tunnels and changes of level, wrapped in the coolness of the caves and equipped with helmet and individual light, you will learn many interesting facts about the miners’ life and see with your very eyes their main working tools.

The historical museum completes the visit, where rich exhibition panels and installations are arranged to let visitors learn all the secrets of mining. Finally, much appreciated are the dinners in the mine, with tasting of typical products and the chance to go mine trekking.

Visiting information

The Mine is open from April to October; opening hours vary depending on the time of year.

For those wishing to venture into the mine, hiking boots or rubber boots are mandatory. Appropriate clothing for the temperature of the underground is recommended.
