IN VEROLANUOVA

The church of San Lorenzo in Verolanuova is one of the biggest parish churches in Lombardy. This small village is in the fertile Brescia plain, not far from the main city, but the artistic value it contains is undisputable: two large paintings by Venetian painter Gianbattista Tiepolo, dating from 1740.

One depicts Manna falling from the sky, and the other (exactly opposite the first, in the same chapel) Melchisedech’s sacrifice. Both canvases measure 55sqm. Size is not the only reason why the visitor is attracted to these paintings: their quality is superior.

The church is a true artistic treasure chest. It also boasts the first cupola with overhead lantern built in the Brescia region.
