The Teatro Grande, located in the heart of the old city centre, dates back three hundred years, when it was founded on the site of the first public theatre of the city, opened in 1664.

Considered one of the most important theatres in Italy and recognised as national monument in 1912, Teatro Grande offers a very rich programme, with performances ranging from opera and ballet, to concerts, dance, cultural events, and projects for children.

Teatro Grande: music and education

There are many great events at Teatro Grande which combine music and culture, attracting tens of thousands of people every year.

In addition to the very full season of opera, ballet, dance, and concerts organised by Fondazione Teatro Grande, there is also the International Piano Festival  featuring some of the most famous directors, soloists, and orchestras  in the world, and the Festa dell’Opera, one of the highlights of the year, which transforms the whole city into a huge stage from dawn to midnight with performances of most famous pieces of opera.

Great consensus also for the many initiatives and organized tours throughout the year for children, adults, and people over 65 years old: a new way to discover the theater and get to know its spaces.

For the full programme, visit the official website of Teatro Grande.

Caffè del Teatro Grande Berlucchi

Today, the Caffè del Teatro Grande Berlucchi is a historical venue located in the heart of the city, ideal for an indulgent breakfast, light snack or an aperitif in a unique setting.

The Café at the Teatro Grande Berlucchi is only open at weekends, with special openings during events and musical aperitifs.

Palchetto Teatro Grande-Brescia - ph Umberto Favretto

Stage Teatro Grande, Brescia | Ph Umberto Favretto

An unmissable experience in which to admire the most beautiful spaces in the theatre – from the boxes to Sala Grande, from the recently restored Ridotto (foyer) to Sala della Deputazione – and hear interesting anecdotes directly from those involved.

The visit to the stage and the backstage is very impressive: technicians and experts will illustrate how the theatrical machine works.

How to reach the Teatro Grande

Located in the city centre in the main shopping district of Brescia, Teatro Grande is served by several bus routes (stops in Via Mazzini and Via San Martino della Battaglia) as well as the metro (Vittoria stop).

For those who travel by car, there is ample parking in the underground car park in Piazza Vittoria.
