Santa Maria della Formigula – Pieve della Furmigula di Dello (Church)

A splendid example of 15th-century Lombard architecture: this is the Pieve della Furmigula in Dello!

Nestled in the Brescian countryside and an ideal place for recollection, the early Christian building retains the poetry of medieval rural parish churches. Also known as Santa Maria della Formigula, it welcomes visitors with three simple naves and pointed arches on low brick columns. Notable are the 16th-century votive frescoes.

Alongside the church is an impressive bell tower, whose base is built of large blocks of stone taken from Roman buildings.

The church is easily reached by bike along the city cycle path.
