Pieve di Bigolio (Santuario Madonna della Pieve – Sanctuary)

An important destination of popular devotion in the countryside of Brescia’s plain: this is the Madonna della Pieve Shrine in Orzivecchi!

The interior is very simple and preserves a terracotta tile representing the Dormitio Virginis, a late Gothic masterpiece attributed to the ‘Master of Angels’ Cantori. It also features a 18th-century altar from the Church of the Disciplini, with precious stucco and mother-of-pearl inlays.

Outside the sanctuary, there are the visible remains of the archeological excavations carried out in 2018.
