The Pieve della Mitria di Nave is an ancient place of worship on the banks of the Garza River, immersed in the silence of the surrounding countryside.
Built a few decades after the year 1000 on the remains of an older pagan place of worship, the church was rebuilt in its present form in the late 15th century.
The terraced churchyard and a simple gabled facade lead to an interior richly decorated with frescoes, the oldest of which date back to 1446.
A magnificent example of a traditional Romanesque-Lombard “hall” temple, the Pieve della Mitria is one of the sights on the Via del Sacro e dell’Arte dell’Ecomuseo di Valle Trompia. La Montagna e l’Industria (Tour of Religion and Art of the Val Trompia Ecomuseum: Mountain and Industry).
The church has a calendar of annual openings with guided tours, in addition to a few special events.
