A multisensory and interactive journey to discover the phenomenon that transforms water into energy. This is the magical experience offered by Musil – Hydroelectric Energy Museum in Cedegolo, in the middle of Valle Camonica.
Musil in Cedegolo, a journey to touch and feel
Turbines, alternators, penstocks, historic pylons. Display cases containing ancient instruments and machinery. Monitors that video project period documents and short films.
Opened in 2008, the museum overlooking the Oglio River occupies the fascinating spaces of the original power plant built between 1909 and 1910 and in use until 1962. The visit takes you back many years, when in Cedegolo the force of water was exploited to generate electricity. This activity lives again today with a new layout designed to capture the visitor in a 360-degree experience that involves sight, touch, and hearing.
After the entrance, the Hall of Spheres welcomes the public with a double video projection that illustrates meteorological phenomena. The videos of the turbine room light up with animations that explain the mechanisms of the large turbine-alternator positioned in the center. The bright torches illuminate the pieces of history housed in the display cases. For those who want to test themselves, an online system of video games is available to test their knowledge in the hydroelectric field.
Also worthy of note are the outdoor spaces: the building standing majestically in its authentic austerity and the panoramic balcony over the Oglio River.
The Musil hosts temporary exhibitions, conferences, educational workshops and workshops: children and school groups are always welcome!
