Castello Martinengo (Castle)

Built at the end of the 14th century by the noble Martinengo family, the Castello di Martinengo in Villachiara was used as the family residence..

It is one of the castles on the plain that is still surrounded by a moat, now covered in grass. The castle walls preserve frescoes by the Campi brothers from Cremona and by Lattanzio Gambara.

This ancient and charming fortress with circular towers stands in the middle of the village.

Today, it is the home of some local families from Villachiara and certain rooms are open to visitors upon request.
