Just a 10-minute walk from Piazza Vittoria, the Carmine is a lively multicultural neighborhood where Made in Italy handicraft excellence coexists with ethnic shops and venues.
This important heritage can be reached by passing through Largo Formentone and Piazza Rovetta, adjacent to Piazza Loggia. From here, important streets and alleys start where ancient traditions and crafts shine: visitors and citizens should enjoy a stroll along Via Gasparo da Salò, Rua Sovera, Contrada Pozzo dell’Olmo, Via delle Battaglie and the picturesque streets connected to Via San Faustino.
In the Carmine area, after taking Contrada San Giovanni and Corso Mameli you reach Corso Garibaldi, an avenue breathing great bohemian charm where ethnic bars, modestly priced shops, boutiques, herbalists and food shops mix. Here, the thirteenth-century Torre della Pallata stands out, crowned with battlements and boasting an imposing bell tower.
The avenue crosses numerous alleys, among which Via San Francesco d’Assisi, where the Romanesque-Gothic church of the same name stands, and Corso Martiri della Libertà.
