Monte Guglielmo – Mountain Bike

Learn more >

Monte Guglielmo is one of the most popular mountains in the whole province of Brescia in every season, for the variety of routes and the open views it offers. You can reach the top on foot and also by mountain bike.

The most popular biking route follows the track from Croce di Marone, which can be reached by the provincial road (SP) from Marone to Zone along Valle di Gasso.

Let’s take a look in more detail at this fantastic off-road route with views from the top that make every effort worthwhile!

Mountainbiking on Monte Guglielmo: the route

Travel by car in the direction of Zone and stop in Cislano, where you park at the fork
and follow the road on the right, which is signposted Monte Guglielmo.

In the first stretch, on the opposite side of the valley you can see the rocks of the Corni Stretti, while the suspended carts travel from the nearby Calarusso quarry to Marone. The ride is quite difficult not only because of the incline, but also because there are some uneven sections of the road, though you can do the whole section by bike.

To reach the Croce di Marone pass, you have to keep climbing until you merge onto the road from Valle dell’Opolo and continue left for a short distance. At the Croce di Marone pass, you are almost half way to the top of Monte Guglielmo and the direction to follow is well marked. You continue on the road and pass by the Rifugio Malpensata, after which you enter Val d’Inzino, a right-hand branch off Val Trompia. The paved road climbs without any major hurdles until it reaches the cowshed Malga Guglielmo di Sotto, and after another couple of kilometres Malga Guglielmo di Sopra, where you find an information board about the “Malghe in rete” (Cowshed network) project.

From here, you have to work significantly harder: first, on the very steep section which leads to the Rifugio Almici, then on the section that leads directly to the nearby monument of Cristo Redentore (Christ the Redeemer) at the top. The final part is very uneven, and you will need to get off and push. The descent follows the same route in reverse.
